Francisquita (Frances) Celina Maestas Esquibel was born August 21, 1926, to Benjamin and Emmanuelita Maestas at The Head of the Wind in Ocate, New Mexico. Frances lived a beautiful 91 years. She dedicated her life to Our Lord, The Blessed Virgin Mary, her religion, and her children. She devoted many years to delivering babies and helping children all around her home area. If Frances could have she would have protected every child on Earth. It shows in all the people who she loved and cared for so dearly. She was everyone’s “Grandma Esquibel”. She was a member of The Legion of Mary and The Altar Society. She also worked alongside many Doctors, Nurses, and Teachers. Frances will be remembered by many for her years of being a cocktail waitress at all
the Springer hangouts with the best dance moves and most beautiful red hair.
Frances is survived by five of her eleven siblings, Lydia Romero, Estella Christie, Irene Brough, Jose Maestas, and Gloria Maestas; six of her eight children, Manuel Joseph Esquibel, Anthony Esquibel Sr., Angela Esquibel, Edwin Maestas, Yolanda Maestas, Mario Maestas, and Deborah Montoya; Seventeen grandchildren twenty great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren.
Awaiting Frances at the gates of Heaven, are her parents Benjamin and Emmunalita, her sons Augustine Esquibel Jr. and Emmanual Esquibel; her siblings Orlando Maestas, Rose Wright, Mary Romero, Aurora Vigil, Diego Maestas and Benjamin Maestas Jr.
Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will be on Friday April 6, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer, NM recited by the Legion of Mary, followed by the Mass of The Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Daniel Balizan Officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
The arrangements for Francisquita (Frances) Esquibel are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
A family gathering, and dinner will follow immediately after the services at the Parish Hall
