The 1-7 Lady Tigers hosted the 0-6 Lady Dons from West Las Vegas Tuesday evening October 26, in Tiger Gym for the final regular season match of the second 2021 volleyball season.
The C-team started the afternoon off with a winning note as well besting the Lady Dons in two. Raton took the early lead in both games and simply poured it on from there as they took a 17-7 lead before pulling game one out by seven followed by a eight point win in the second game.
The Jv team took their match to three games after loosing by five then winning the second game by five. West took the early lead but Raton stayed close with ties mid way thru the game at 14 and 17. West finished it off by taking the lead and making the 25 point mark for the win. In game two of the JV match Raton took the lead and never looked back taking the win by five 25-20. The tie breaker was just that a tie breaker as the ladies tied game three at 12. West took the lead and and held it to the 15 point mark for the win.
The varsity girls had beaten West earlier in the season and was looking for the repeat as game one got underway Raton took the lead and dominated the net and the floor with spikes by Giana Marez and Riley Hopper. All the girls up from took turns working the blocks and finished off the game by 11. Game two went much the same way but game three saw a tie game early on but West took the lead and held on for the win as Raton suffered from their own mistakes. Game four saw a tie game at 7 and 12 before Raton took the lead and worked the net and floor. West however didn’t give in easily and stayed close to the end with only a four point deficit.
