Trinidad 25 25
Raton 16 18
The varsity match was another story and saw some very long volleys with Raton’s Ariana Perez and Trinidad’s Mikayla Hinchley dominating the net with blocks and tips over the net. While Raton took the early lead in game one they never could pull out by more than three points with Trinidad coming back and tying the game at 22, 23 and 24 before Raton put it away.
In game two the lead changed hands several times with a tie game at 15, 16 and 18 before Raton finally managed to pull ahead for the win. Again Perez dominated the net with blocks and several hits over the net.
In game three it was another close one with Libero Aveah Marquez receiving most of the serves and setting up the plays for Raton. This game like the previous two had a couple of lead changes and a tie game at 22. Trinidad managed to pull it out again with strong play at the net.
In game four Raton took the early lead and led 5-0 and they maintained the five point lead until Trinidad battled back and to tie the game at 13, 14, 15 and 16 before Raton pulled one out and took the lead and finished the game with a six point lead.
This match saw the Lady Tigers play like a team with all the girls contributing to the game. Many times during the match there were several volleys that went several trips over the net and it came down to who would make the miss or get the block on the ball.
