Bluewater Lake: David West of Albuquerque caught and released a 38-inch tiger muskie Sept. 30. He was using hot dogs.

Cimarron River: Rustin Steen, age 3, of Tijeras caught his first fish, a 10-inch rainbow trout Sept. 29. He was using salmon eggs. Rustin caught one more fish here and three more at Eagle Nest Lake. He out fished the family.

Dennis Chavez Park Lake: Rufino Gonzalez of Clovis caught an 8.2-pound channel catfish Sept. 29. He was using hot dogs.

Elephant Butte Lake: Ben Allen, age 10, of Albuquerque caught a 2-pound and a 1-pound, 9-ounce white bass and caught and released three others Sept. 29. He was fishing during a C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation event and was using a white crank bait. Luis Hernandez of El Paso caught a huge catfish Sept. 22. He was fishing at night and using cut bait.

Fenton Lake: Andrew Benavidez, Jr. age 6, of Albuquerque caught his limit of trout including one that measured 16 inches Sept. 29. He was using salmon eggs. 

Rio Grande: Jacob Salazar, age 15, of Rio Rancho caught a 26-inch, 9-pound channel catfish Sept. 30. He was fishing in the Corrales area and using Rotten Shad dip bait.

Roswell Kids Pond: Chevy Wyatt, age 10, of Roswell caught a 14-inch catfish Sept. 30. He was using catfish bubblegum.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Mara Harvey, age 4, of Los Alamos and Scarlett Diaz, age 5, of Albuquerque caught limits of trout, including a 17-inch rainbow caught by Mara, Sept. 30. They were using PowerBait. Noah Abril, age 11, and Sammy Abril, age 5, of Los Lunas had a blast catching rainbow trout Sept. 30. They were using salmon eggs and PowerBait.

Charette Lakes: Fishing was slow with just a few trout caught by anglers using PowerBait.

Cimarron River: Stream flow near the town of Cimarron on Monday morning was 27.4 cfs. Fishing was good using bead-head hares ears, small midge patterns, San Juan worms, salmon eggs and worms for trout. We had no reports from the Gravel Pit Lakes.

Clayton Lake: Fishing was good using worms, PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout. Fishing was fair using worms and liver for catfish. We had no reports on other species. Fishing pressure was light.

Conchas Lake: Fishing was very good using top water lures, spinnerbaits, chatter baits and square billed crank baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair using slab spoons, curly tail grubs, crank baits and blade baits for white bass. Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits, minnows and sassy shad for walleye. Fishing was good using hot dogs, homemade dough baits and chicken liver for catfish. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the low 70s.

Costilla Creek: Stream flow on Monday morning below Costilla Dam was .35 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Cowles Ponds: Fishing was fair using PowerBait for trout.

Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Eagle Nest Lake: HOT SPOT FOR PERCH: Fishing was very good using worms, PowerBait, spinners and jigs for perch. Benny and Laura Espinosa of Las Cruces loaded their stringer with perch this past week. They were using worms. Kaleb Campbell reported excellent perch fishing catching a good number of fish while using a crappie jig. Fishing was fair using worms, PowerBait and Blue Fox spinners for rainbow trout and an occasional kokanee. Kokanee snagging season opened October 1, but we had no reports.

Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, Fire Balls and Pistol Petes for trout.

Fawn Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Gallinas River: Fishing was fair to good using Fire Balls and worms for trout.

Hopewell Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait and Pistol Petes under a bubble for trout.

Lake Alice: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Maloya: Fishing was good using PowerBait, worms and pink salmon eggs for trout.

Los Pinos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Maxwell Lake 13: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Monastery Lake: Fishing was good for anglers using wooly buggers, PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout.

Morphy Lake: Work has begun on the dam and the lake will remain closed through the end of the year.

Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos on Monday morning was 22.9 cfs. Fishing was slow with just a few trout caught by anglers using small bead-head pheasant tails, small midge patterns and salmon eggs.

Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 34.1 cfs. Trout fishing was good using mop flies, San Juan worms, wooly buggers, Fire Balls, PowerBait and worms.

Rio Grande: Stream flow on Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 163 cfs. Trout fishing was good using black wooly buggers, mop flies, crane flies, copper John Barrs, micro mays, Blue Fox spinners and night crawlers. Fishing was slow to fair using spinners and wooly buggers for smallmouth bass. Through the Albuquerque area, fishing was fair using liver, homemade dough bait and dip baits for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Rio Hondo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Valdez was 6.14 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Mora: Stream flow near Terrero on Monday morning was 9.3 cfs. Fishing was fair using worms and Fire Balls for trout.

Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco on Monday morning was 4.92 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Santa Cruz Reservoir: Fishing was fair using wooly buggers and PowerBait for rainbow trout. We had no reports on other species.

Shuree Ponds: Fishing was fair using Pistol Petes under a bubble for trout.

Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Storrie Lake: Fishing continued slow with just a few trout caught by anglers using PowerBait. Fishing pressure remained very light.

Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Ute Lake: HOT SPOT FOR BLUEGILL: Fishing was excellent using worms, crank baits and grubs for bluegill. Fishing was good using shrimp, night crawlers and chicken liver for catfish. Fishing was fair to good using top water lures, flukes, spinnerbaits, swim baits, jerk baits, senkos and curly tail grubs for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair using minnows, crank baits and grubs for walleye. The surface water temp was still in the low to mid 70s but expected to cool down with the cooler temps later this week.

Abiquiu Lake: The lake level remains low and anglers should use extreme caution when launching boats. Four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended for launching. Much safer launching would be with canoes or kayaks. Fishing was fair using top water lures, swim baits, jigs, spinner baits and crank baits for smallmouth bass and an occasional walleye. We had no reports on other species.

Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 12.7 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Albuquerque Area Drains: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bluewater Lake: Fishing was fair using spinnerbaits, top water lures, hot dogs and crank baits for tiger muskie. We had no reports on other species.

Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Canjilon Lakes: Trout fishing was good using PowerBait, worms, Fire Balls, wooly buggers, Pistol Petes and spinners.

Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 604 cfs and 417 cfs respectively. Trout fishing below Heron Lake was good using wooly buggers, prince nymphs and copper John Barrs. Trout fishing below El Vado was good using weighted wooly buggers, green copper John Barrs, bead-head hares ears, night crawlers and chamois leeches for brown and rainbow trout. Robert Montoya caught a 17.5-inch brown trout this past Saturday. He was using a thin mint wooly bugger. We had no reports from below Abiquiu. Kokanee snagging season opened October 1 from El Vado Lake to the western boundary of the Rio Chama Wildlife Management Area, but we had no reports from anglers.

Cochiti Lake: Fishing was fair using shrimp and chicken liver for catfish. Fishing was fair using top water lures, crank baits, spinnerbaits, creature baits and swim baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. We had no reports on other species.

El Vado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Kokanee snagging season opened October 1.

Fenton Lake: Fishing was good using wooly buggers, leeches, worms and salmon eggs for trout. Andrew Benavidez of Albuquerque reported that he and his son caught limits of trout over the weekend while using salmon eggs and black leeches.

Heron Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Fishing pressure was light.

Jackson Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez near the town of Jemez on Monday morning was 9.31 cfs. Trout fishing on the Jemez and the East Fork was good using worms, Fire Balls and mop flies. Fishing on the lower Cebolla was good for anglers using copper John Barrs and worms for brown and rainbow trout. Fishing on the San Antonio was good using copper John Barrs, mop flies, Fire Balls and worms for trout. We had no reports on other streams.

Laguna del Campo: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Farmington: Fishing was slow for all species.

Manzano Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait, worms and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on other species.

Navajo Lake: Fishing was good using crank baits, chatter baits, swim baits and plastics for northern pike. Fishing was good using drop shot rigs, crank baits, chatter baits and curly tail grubs for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using worms and curly tail grubs for perch. We had no reports on other species. Kokanee snagging opened October 1 and was reported as very slow. Designated no-wake areas are closed from October 1 through November 8.

San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

San Juan River: Stream flow below Navajo Lake on Monday morning was 750 cfs but the Bureau of Reclamation had scheduled a decrease in flow to 500 cfs by 11 pm. Fishing was good using fore and afts, red larva, root beers, dead chickens, ants, zebra midges, red annelids, parachute Adams and Griffiths gnats for brown and rainbow trout. Through the bait waters, fishing was good using small spoons, San Juan worms, wooly buggers, copper John Barrs, PowerBait, worms and salmon eggs.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms for trout.

Tingley Beach: Fishing was slow.

Trout Lakes: Trout fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, Fire Balls and small spinners.

Alumni Pond: Fishing continued to be slow for all species.

Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using liver, homemade dough bait and shrimp for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Bill Evans Lake: Fishing was fair to good using liver, worms, hot dogs and homemade dough bait for catfish. Fishing was slow to fair using spinnerbaits, senkos and creature baits for largemouth bass. We had no reports on other species.

Caballo Lake: Fishing was fair to good using liver, cut bait and homemade dough bait for catfish. The best reports came from anglers fishing the north end of the lake. We had no reports on other species.

Elephant Butte Lake: HOT SPOT FOR WHITE BASS: Fishing was excellent using crank baits, swim baits, top water lures, slab spoons, sassy shad and blade baits. Several anglers said it didn’t make any difference what lure you were using as long as it was white. Fishing was good using chatter baits, crank baits, top water lures, swim baits and spinnerbaits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits and swim baits for walleye. Fishing was good using liver, hot dogs, worms, minnows, homemade dough bait and cut bait for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Escondida Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Gila River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 65.3 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Glenwood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Roberts: Fishing was fair to good using night crawlers, liver and hot dogs for catfish. Fishing for trout was a bit slow but a few were caught by anglers using worms and PowerBait.

Percha Dam: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Quemado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rancho Grande Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 0.00 cfs. Fishing was good using liver, hot dogs, shrimp, cut bait and night crawlers for channel catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Snow Lake: Fishing was good using floating trout bait for rainbow trout.

Young Pond: Fishing was slow for all species.

Alto Lake: Fishing was good using worms and hot dogs for catfish. Fishing was good using PowerBait, Pistol Petes and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on other species.

Bataan Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday morning was 26.3 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Blue Hole Park Pond: Fishing was good using PowerBait for trout. We had no reports on other species.

Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. It appears now that the lake will be out of commission until the spring of 2020.
