Raton Teams Each Take Two Over McCurdy

Springtime in the Rockies brought cold temps and light snow pellets off and on during the afternoon as both Raton softball and baseball teams hosted McCurdy in district games Saturday afternoon, April 22nd.

The Lady Tigers started the game out a little slow then with rallies in the second and third innings put 11 runs on the board,  with the help of a Crystal Ortiz 2-run home run over the centerfield fence. McCurdy scored two and forced the game to go further before Raton ended it in the fourth with a 17-2 win over the Lady Bobcats.

Game two of the double header saw Raton struggle a little early on, but still pulled out a 16-6 win in the fifth inning.

Over at Gabrielle field the boys had a second inning rally that put six runs over home plate and made it an 8-0 ball game. The boys added runs in the third and fourth to end the game in five. Jonathan Cabriales went the distance for Raton in game one while Raton put four pitchers on the mound in game two.

The Tigers struggled in game two where it was a third inning rally that gave the boys a five run lead but the Bobcats rallied in the third too and put four runs over the plate. Game two went the full seven innings before Raton finally put the win in the books with an 8-7 win.
