In Loving Memory of Tony Don Sidwell

Tony Don Sidwell, age 66, passed into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in Texline, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Central Time on Saturday, February 21, at the Methodist Church in Texline, Texas. Burial will follow in the Texline Cemetery under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Tony was born on May 20, 1959, to Donald C. Sidwell and Charlene (Sallee) Sidwell.  Tony graduated from Texline High School in 1977, where he played football, ran track, and excelled in both sports. He was also a strong academic student throughout his high school years.  He attended Weatherford College, where he earned his Associate’s Degree. During his time there, Tony received the Dean’s Honor Award and was recognized as one of the Outstanding Men of America. He also served as Christopher Coyote, the official mascot of Weatherford College.  While at Weatherford College, Tony received the Sharon Beauchamp “Pursuit of Excellence” Award. In his honor, the Tony Sidwell Award was later established and is presented annually to the student recognized as Most Outstanding Freshman in Student Activities.  Tony went on to attend West Texas University, where he was named to the Dean’s List. He graduated with Bachelor of Science Degree.  Tony devoted many  years to teaching high school students, where he taught speech, and drama. He was passionate about education and deeply impacted the lives of countless students through his dedication, encouragement, and love for learning. He took his students on educational trips to New York and to London England.  After retiring, Tony returned to Texline to help care for his parents. He loved serving the elderly in the community by delivering meals, assisting with grocery shopping, and helping with other daily needs. He often helped families who were struggling financially. Tony had a true servant’s heart and found great joy in helping others.

SURVIVORS:

Tony is survived by his sisters, Kim Monk and husband Dan, and Cory Davidson and husband Todd; nephews, Michael Monk and Ryan Davidson; nieces, Kayla Schumacher, Brittney Davidson, Kami Garza, and Alison May; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews, including a great-great-niece and nephew. 2 aunts and 1 uncle, Marlene Sallee Hightower of Levelland, Leta Sidwell Myers of Quartzsite, Arizona and Dave Sallee with wife Lois of New Zealand.
