MARGARET ANDRADE
Margaret Andrade, 97, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on December 30. 2025. She was born November 25, 1928, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to parents Robert and Margaret Tunstall. She graduated from Cooley high school in Detroit, Michigan and then worked as a legal secretary, a school secretary, and a secretary in a healthcare facility.
Margaret was married to Hugh Andrade on November 22, 1975, in Raton, New Mexico, and resided in Trinidad for 38 years after moving from Canon City, Colorado. She later resided in Bayfield, Durango, Pueblo, and most recently Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, a member of P.E.O. for many years, and her beloved quilting club.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Andrade, her parents Robert and Margaret Tunstall, her first husband Thomas Shonk, brothers Alexander and Bob Tunstall, sisters Shirley Tunstall and Ann Hooper, and son Michael J. Shonk.
Survivors include children Robert J. Shonk (Vauna) of Middleburg, Florida, Alfred J. Shonk (Della) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Catherine A. Shane, Canon City, Colorado, John P. Shonk, Buena Vista, Colorado, and Thomas E. Shonk (Annette), Bayfield, Colorado, and step son Michael Andrade (Melinda) of Pueblo West, Colorado. Margaret has over 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She recently was proud to watch her niece Lisa, Art Martinez Retire from the United States Air Force after a long and successful career. She was also privileged to have her great niece, Alexandra Day visit with her all the way from Victoria, Australia.
A funeral service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 2 PM where she will be interned with her late husband Hugh.
The family has entrusted Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home with the services.
