Hepolita (Pauline) Martinez, age 105, of Maxwell, N.M., entered eternal rest on December 15, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on August 13, 1920, in Tinaja, N.M. to her parents, Graciano and Aurelia Cruz.
She was a lifelong member of St. Vincent de Paul / St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Maxwell / Springer, N.M. Pauline was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Altar Society and a Catechism teacher over 60 years. Working in her church, she was truly knowledgeable and passionate about teaching the principles of her Catholic faith.
She lived a life marked by love, kindness, and dedication to her family and faith. She was known for her kind heart, good cooking, and a wild sense of humor. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, ceramics, exercise class and found joy in family time and her faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

WE ALL HAVE PEACE KNOWING SHE IS SMILING DOWN ON US AND WE WILL ALL BE TOGETHER SOMEDAY. SHE WILL BE IN OUR CONVERSATIONS FOR MANY YEARS.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband Herman, two children, Rosemary Byrum and Edward Martinez, her parents, and her siblings. Pauline is survived by two sons, Michael (wife Carol), and Fred (wife Lou). She leaves behind a loving legacy of 10 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Numerous other cherished family members also survive her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church – Springer, NM, in memory of Pauline Martinez.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be on January 7, 2026, at 9:30 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer, N.M., recited by Mike Vigil, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am with Father Trieu as the celebrant. Rite of committal and Interment will follow in the Maxwell Cemetery.
