Carl Thomas Mozingo, Jr.

Carl Thomas Mozingo, Jr. died peacefully at home Monday, November 3, 2025, in Monument, Colorado. He was born to Carl Thomas Mozingo and Jeanette Reynolds Mozingo May 27, 1932, in Texarkana, Arkansas just over the border from Texarkana, Texas, where his family lived at the time.

Carl graduated from high school in Orange, Texas while living with his mother and stepfather, F.J. ‘Bruce’ Broussard. Carl married Margrette Brown in 1953 and together they raised four children in and around Bridge City, Texas. Carl worked as a pipefitter at Texaco Oil Refinery before being drafted into the army and serving in Korea. Upon return, he finished a program at Lamar State College and took a job with Firestone as an Instruments Engineer. In 1976 he and Margrette moved to Stonewall Colorado where they ran the Picket wire Lodge & Store until the 1990’s. In 2023 Carl and Margrette moved to Monument Colorado.

Preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruby Jean, son Jon Eric, daughter-in-law Ofelia, and his beloved wife, Margrette, Carl is survived by sons Carl, Michael (Laurie), and Stephen and daughter-in law Michele; along with grandchildren Stephen, Aaron, Lucy, Chloe, Emily, Rheo, Ivy, Aiza, Hazel, Harold and eight great grandchildren, with another great grandson on the way.

A celebration of Life will be held at Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home, 335 E. Main Street, Trinidad, Colorado on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
