David Gene George,
Has passed away on August 17th at the age of 62. Born March,16th, 1963 to Mary Montoya
and Leroy George.
Born and raised in Raton is where he spent most of his life. He studied car maintenance at
Trinidad State jr. college and went on to be a mechanic, carpenter and plumber by trait.
A lover of loud music, classic muscle cars, the open road and ice cold beer. He never truly
graduated from the 80’s. His leisure was was caring for his dogs, especially his Husky and
German Shepherd, which he almost never left the house without and took them for rides and
ran them everyday.
He couldn’t accept change, yet he could stare his own mortality in the face. Though he didn’t
believe in organized religion, he was a believer and righteous as they come. Though he never
thought himself to be, he was incredibly intelligent and mechanically gifted. A kind person, who
was polite, yet, funny enough, didn’t care for niceties. Anti-establishment, yet, the one institute
he believed in was marriage; being married to his wife for over 30 years and together for more
than 40.
He is survived by his wife, Maryann, his sons, Wesle and Travis, his brother Vernon, his mother
Mary Cleo, his true father, Louie, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, but, most of all he is
survived by his community, you all, the people of Raton

In Loving Memory of David Gene George
