Raton kicked off the day at the 2026 International Santa Fe Trail Balloon Rally at the La Mesa Airfield before moving to downtown Raton for the annual street parade and later in the evening a fireworks display put on by Do It Right Pyro.
The parade stretched almost the entire length of historic First Street in Downtown Raton. With a police car leading the parade there were more cars and vintage cars along with fire equipment and a couple of reunion gatherings.
Later in the evening First Street once again came alive with fireworks spectators who were treated to a display that included the big 20×30 ft US flag held aloft by the boys at Raton Public Service north of the display itself on Roundhouse Road. Scott Johnson’s Do It Right Pyro Pulled off a music synched fireworks display to celebrate the 250th Birthday of these grand old states Saturday July 4th. The fireworks were synced with music that could be heard if you were close by or on the Pyrocast app. Raton is fortunate enough to have a rather large grassless area along the railroad tracks that can be used for such an event. The Raton Fire Department was on standby and a couple of firefighters were even patrolling the area. The show lasted about 20+ minutes.
Below are videos of the parade and fireworks along with a sampling of the many fireworks that lit up the evening sky.
