A Study of Gyroscopes and How They Behave

August 20, 2018 @ 5:00 pm

One of the most counter-intuitive contraptions in nature is the gyroscope. Gyroscopes are all around us, and I’m not talking about the toy gyroscopes we loved to play with as kids. Anything that turns about an axis will behave with gyroscopic action. Some examples:

Bicycle wheels
Floor polishers
Inertial guidance system components
Stabilizers for rockets and ships
The planet earth
Join us for a study of gyroscopes and how they behave. We’ll have amazing demonstrations, and lots of fun.

This is a program for anyone from 10 to 100 years old. It’s on this coming Monday, August 20 at 5:00PM in the Community Room. I hope you can join us, and bring along your friends.
