In Loving Memory of Louise Grubelnik

Louise Grubelnik, age 87 passed away on August 23, she arrived to this world on June 20, 1934. Born as Louise Milavec in the mining camp, called Delagua west of Ludlow National Monument. Louise was the second youngest of five children with three sisters and one younger brother.

Louise married Fred Grubelnik on October 16 of 1954 and enjoyed 60 years together until Fred’s passing on June 19 of 2015. Fred and Louise were full time ranchers living in Yankee Canyon, raising four children together, Thomas, George, John, and Janice.

Louise loved working outside on her yard and flowers; even mowing her own lawn until her mid 80’s.

Her semi-annual highlight was the preparation of the noon feast for the spring and fall cattle drives. Her noon meal and signature fried chicken was highly anticipated by both the cowboys and truckers alike that all helped ship their steers each year.

Louise is survived by two sisters, Annie, and Francis, still living in Trinidad and three of her youngest children.

In lieu of flours the family request donations to the John Zay Guest House in Colorado Springs. This facility provides essential lodging for family members of patients being cared for in Penrose Hospital nearby.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Patricks’/Josephs’ Catholic Church with Father Bill Woytavich as the Celebrant. Rite of Committal and internment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements for Louise Grubelnik are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
