In Loving Memory of William Bruce Hammond Sr.

William Bruce Hammond Sr., died on Monday, March 21, 2016 at the age of 77.
He was born on January 19, 1939 to Mabel (Littlefield) and Victor Hammond in Portsmouth, NH.
HammondBill attended and graduated from Hampton Academy in New Hampshire. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from August 9, 1957 to August 8, 1960 receiving an honorable discharge, achieving the rank of Specialist 5. He attended the University of New Hampshire, majoring in Forestry. He was employed by the USDA Forest Service for over 30 years.

Upon his retirement, he and wife Margaret moved to Bon Carbo, CO where he resided until his passing.
He served as a past board member and Fire Chief of the Bon Carbo Fire Department. He was always interested in the fire department and it’s activities and was active as his health permitted.

He also attended Trinidad State Jr. College, studying gunsmithing and knife making. He felt that there was always something new to learn and he passed this knowledge on to his family and friends.

Mr. Hammond is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Peggy Muzerroll.

He is survived by Margaret, his wife of 52 years, sons William Jr. (Lori), Robert (Nattaya), Brett (Julie) Hammond, and daughter Catherine (John) Lackey. He enjoyed his eight grandchildren: Joseph (Jessica), Justin, Benjamin and Lauren Hammond, and Elisabeth, Alyrica, Lael, and Johanna Lackey. Also surviving are his brother Gordon (Dede) Hammond of Florida, his sister Paula George of Maine, his uncle Joseph Hammond of New Hampshire, many nieces, nephews and close friends.
The Funeral Memorial Mass will be Friday, April 1, 2016 at 4 PM at Sebastiani Gym. Military Honors will be provided by Ft. Carson Honor Guard.

Interment will be held at a later date.

Persons wishing to do so are encouraged to make contributions to the NRA Whittington Center Youth Adventure Camp or Holy Trinity Reconstruction Fund in Bill’s memory.
