Q.T.Pi Bakery and Coffee Shoppe promises Mad Treats

by Colette M. Armijo
WJ 250x55RATON — Just a half a block away from the train station, the grand opening of Q.T.Π Bakery and Coffee Shoppe is brewing.   For months, locals have been buzzing with the anticipation of a long awaited bakery.  Marquetta San Roman, with passion in her veins and a vision like no other, has quickly put things in place to open her establishment at 127 Cook Avenue in Raton.
San Roman recently moved back to Raton from Las Vegas, Nevada.  Both she and her husband are very close to their families – his being from Raton and hers from Nevada.  With the changing dynamics of life, they made the move and jumped at the opportunity to bring one of Marquetta’s dreams to a reality.
San Roman has 15 years of experience as a Head Start and transitional kindergarten teacher. She has also worked as a loan officer and recently inherited the ownership of her father’s mining and excavation company.  In Nevada, she previously filled baking orders for family and friends from the comfort of her home and the warmth of her heart. Cake pops, pies, birthday cakes and many of her own original creations led her to dream of the possibility of a small town bakery with a variety of offerings.
The staff of Q.T.Π are “10/6 Mad like a Hatter” with each loving what they do.  On Monday, August 10, the bakery and coffee shoppe will welcome all with specialty coffees, two leaf teas, homemade breads, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, muffins, pies and more. Opening hours will be 6 am to 3 pm, but as time goes by, the bakery may offer evening hours with live local entertainment.
Marquetta San Roman sums up what she will bring to Raton with Q.T.Π Bakery and Coffee Shoppe this way, “[I want to offer] the passion and love that I put into my baking … [I look forward to] pleasing people and making them happy with a totally sensory experience.”
