“Ute Prayer Trees” Program

September 30, 2016

Carnegie Public Library in Trinidad hosts a special program, “Ute Prayer Trees,” this Friday, Sept 30th at 5:30PM in the main room of the Trinidad Public Library. The program is free and open to the public.

John Wesley Anderson, expert in these living artifacts, will discuss the culturally modified Ponderosa Pine trees created by the Ute people.

The Utes inhabited the mountain regions of New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and Utah, and modified these trees as trail markers, to tell stories, to indicate burial sites and to foretell future events.
