For the Lady Blue it was a bitter sweet ending to a great game that went three tight quarters and then a uhhh ohhh quarter that allowed the Lady Longhorns to take the lead and finally the win for the 2026 Class A State Championship game in the Pit on the UNM campus in Albuquerque New Mexico.

Roy/Mosquero and Logan had met earlier in the season with Logan taking both games so the Lady Blue were looking for the win. Head Coach Blair Clavel noted before the game that his bench was not as deep as the Logan bench and that his concern was making four quarters and not running out of steam or getting into foul trouble.

The game began with Logan taking control of the jump ball but it be almost two minutes into the game before either team ripped the net for a score. The Lady Blue managed to got on the scoreboard first and managed to stay ahead of the Lady Longhorns through the remainder of the quarter for an 8-4 lead.

Second quarter action saw the Lady Longhorns finally start making the shots and keeping the game close after the Lady Blue managed to gain a six point lead early in the second quarter. At halftime Brooke Hazen had three fouls to her credit while Tayla Proffitt had two a concern that would keep Hazen on the bench for a while.

Second half action saw the Lady Longhorns take the lead but the Lady Blue weren’t out yet and regained the lead. Turnovers however would begin to plague the Lady Blue and allow Logan to add points to the scoreboard. The game continued to be a fast paced run and gun with Logan outscoring Roy/Mosquero 13-7 for a 32-29 lead at the buzzer.

The fourth quarter action saw the Lady Blue feeling the pressure of the fast paced game. Another hit to the Lady Blue was the loss of senior Constanza Covarrubias as she fouled out early in the fourth. With Covarrubias out of the game and Hazen holding four fouls the Lady Blue played a bit more cautious. Logan put on the pressure and managed to outscore Roy/Mosquero 16-7 in the fourth to take the win and the Class 1A State Championship trophy home.
