It was a long day for the Raton Lady Tiger and Tiger teams as they hosted the Santa Rosa Lady Lions and Lions for district games in Tiger Gym and at RIS Thursday February 5, 2026.

The JV Boys played at the Raton Intermediate School Gym while the JV Lady Tigers were on the court in Tiger Gym. In both JV games Santa Rosa took the lead and never looked back holding both teams to single digits in the first quarter. At RIS it was a ruling clock in the second half of the game while the JV girls faired a little better staying just out of that 35 point threshold.

In the girls varsity game at Tiger Gym a strong Santa Rosa defense and well executed offense held Raton to only two points in the first half and only three points in the second half of play. While Raton put the shots up the ball simply wouldn’t fall in the right place.

In the boys varsity game it was a strong defense and a well executed offense that held Raton to only four points while Santa Rosa dropped in 20. Raton worked out the kinks and came alive in the second quarter outscoring the Lions 22-21. However the third quarter the boys struggled and fell further behind as the Lions dominated the court. By the final buzzer it was a running clock with a 83-44 final.

Raton travels to Estancia on Saturday February 7 and will be back in Tiger Gym on Thursday afternoon for games against Pecos with games beginning at 4:00 p.m.
