In Loving Memory of Cathryn B. Hickman

Cathryn B. Hickman passed away on May 15, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas, with her husband and son by her side. Cathryn was born in Taos, NM, to William Brewster and Sigrid Swanson Brewster on January 11, 1929. She was raised in the Moreno Valley, attended Moreno Valley School, and graduated from Cimarron High School in 1946. Cathryn was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Cimarron from 1965 to 1983.

Cathryn married the love of her life, William D. Hickman, on August 22, 1948. Their son, Ronald G. Hickman, was born in September of the following year. They made their home in Cimarron from that time until recently, when Cathryn needed extra care. In the spirit of true love, Bill packed his bags and moved to assisted living to be next door to Cathryn, with the plans and hopes that she would join him there soon. They were able to spend their days together until the end.

Cathryn loved her home in Mountain Meadows, where she enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, watching the deer and elk, and loving the opportunity to see an occasional bear. She loved her dogs, especially her blue heelers, and an occasional cat. Cathryn had the best sense of humor and loved a good laugh and an occasional trip to the casino. She loved her family and enjoyed holidays, family meals, and a good dessert with coffee. She is greatly missed already, but her vibrant spirit will live on in our hearts.

Cathryn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Thomas E. Brewster. She is survived by her husband of 76 years, William Hickman, and their son, Ronald Hickman, of Cimarron, NM. Also surviving her are her chosen family, David and Judy Hughes of Cimarron, Jerry and Marlene Pittman of Cimarron, Cody and Lyndsey Pittman of Canyon, Texas, and Jessie, Nathan, and Cooper Schenk of Panhandle, Texas.

Cathryn will be buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Cimarron. At her request, there will not be a public service.
