It was a gloomy drizzley day as Raton softball got under way Saturday morning at Jim Wade Field but quickly turned brighter for the Lady Tigers as they stacked up the runs against their district opponent Clayton Yellowjackettes.

Clayton enters the game with a 4-10 district record in Class 2A District 6 softball while Raton holds an 8-2 record in district play. The only district opponent to defeat Raton has been Estancia who won in a couple of low scoring games, one game by only a single run 3-2. Raton will take on district opponents Logan Lady Longhorns Tuesday before a final game with the Lady Cardinals of Robertson.

Raton started off the scoring in the first inning of both games and simply didn’t look back. It took three full innings to oust the Yellowjackettes in game one and in game two had the Yellowjackettes on the ropes and finished the game in two and half innings.
