In Loving Memory of Evan Nick Bayes

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Evan Nick Bayes on January 20, 2025 in Denver Colorado at the young age of 32.

Evan was born on September 28th, 1992 in Raton, New Mexico, a day that filled his parents’ hearts with great joy.

As a young man he enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and was a fearless skateboarder. More recently he earned a certificate in Construction Science from Trinidad State College. He was an excellent handyman and property restorer. He owned and operated his own business in renovation and general repairs and took pride in his work.

Evan enjoyed life and was friends with people from all walks of life. He was quiet and kind but also enjoyed making his brothers and friends laugh. Evan loved living in Colorado and was an avid outdoorsman; he especially loved fishing. He enjoyed photographing the beauty of his home state.

Evan brought people together over the truly important things in life: family, friendship, love, kindness and positivity. He will be sadly missed every day and he will live in our hearts forever.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather Larry Mortensen, his paternal Grandfather Sid Bayes, and his maternal Great Grandparents Joe and Evelyn Dionisio.

He is survived by his parents Terri East Mortensen and Kurt Bayes, and Stepmother Dianna Bayes, his younger brothers: Jack & Jake Mortensen, Nephews Cristian Dean & Rozario, and Niece Hope, Grandparents Karen Dionisio, Frances Nonie Bayes, and Gary East. Evan is also survived by numerous Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.

Pallbearers are: Jack & Jake Mortensen, Joe Duran, Bill Reorda, Wylie Bayes, and Mark Bayes.

Services will be held at 11am on Saturday February 8th, 2025 at First Christian Church, 200 S Walnut St Trinidad, CO 81082.
