Antonio was born to Philip Salazar and Mary Chavez.
Antonio proudly served his country in the National Guard, carrying with him the same honor, loyalty, and dedication that defined the way he lived every day.
His greatest love was his wife of 44 years, Edwina Salazar. Childhood sweethearts, they built a beautiful life together founded on unconditional love, unwavering commitment, and deep friendship. Anyone who knew Antonio knew how deeply he loved Edwina. He would have done anything for her, and the love they shared was an inspiration to everyone around them.
He was a devoted father to Antonio Salazar JR and Brianna Salazar, as well as a proud grandfather to Philip Jamison Salazar and Mateo David Salazar. His grandchildren were among his greatest joys, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Antonio is survived by his mother Mary Chavez, beloved wife Edwina Salazar; his children, Antonio Salazar JR and Brianna Salazar; his grandchildren, Philip Jamison Salazar and Mateo David Salazar; his siblings, Philip Salazar and wife Cathy, Richard Salazar, Rita Cortez, Benito Chavez, Julian Chavez, and sister in law Sara Torres ; as well as many cherished godchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were made better knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Philip Salazar; his stepfather, Calle Chavez; his brother, Lawrence Torres; and brother-in-law, Poncho Cortez.
Antonio always made time to listen. His words carried the kind of wisdom that came from a life well lived—honest, steadfast, and always spoken with kindness. His advice didn’t just offer answers; it offered comfort, strength, and the reassurance that no one ever had to face life’s burdens alone.
His heart beat for the people he loved, for backyard BBQs filled with laughter, and for every San Francisco 49er and Los Angeles Lakers game that brought out his unwavering passion. His energy was the kind that lit up every room, and his laughter became a memory no one who knew him will ever forget. His spirit brought people together, making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and at home. To know Antonio was to be reminded to embrace life with a full heart.
His legacy will live on through the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, the lessons he shared, and the countless memories that will forever be held close by those who loved him. Though our hearts are heavy with his absence, we find comfort knowing that his love, laughter, and strength will continue to guide us for generations to come.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. where stories will be shared, laughter remembered, and Tonio’s remarkable life celebrated in the Chapel at the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home. Family and friends are warmly invited to join the family afterward for a potluck reception at the VFW.
