TRINIDAD — Law enforcement officials from Trinidad and the state remained silent this week following the Friday, April 24 shooting of an armed man by an unnamed Trinidad Police officer.
Todd Jamal Dye, 20, of Colorado Springs, was shot and killed when TPD officers responded to an unauthorized person on property call at the Almar Trailer Park at about 9:15 am Friday.
A press release from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation last week said Dye was found in a mobile home in the trailer park on Trinidad’s Main Street. It went on to say the officer said Dye complied with his commands to get on the ground, but he (Dye) then jumped up and began to run out of the room. Investigators say he was shot when he turned back at the officer and pointed a gun at him, and that a review of the officer’s body camera video confirmed the sequence of events.
