In Loving Memory of Mistina Marie Sarvari

Mistina Marie Sarvari

07.03.2026

Mistina Marie Sarvari passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2026, at the age of 64.

Born on July 29,1961, in Sioux City, Iowa Mistina was the beloved daughter of Loretta Knutson and Joe Gonzales. After graduating from high school, she attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, where she earned degrees in Psychology and Sociology, achievements that remained a lifelong source of pride.

Following college, Mistina lived in Huntington Beach, California, where she worked for ABC television network for five years, before returning to Colorado. She later settled in Aguilar, where she spent the last several years of her life and became an active, caring member of the community she loved.

Mistina was a devoted Denver Broncos fan who never passed up the chance to browse a good yard sale. Her greatest passion, however, was caring for animals. She adored her cats and especially her faithful dog, Ruby. The two were inseparable, and anyone who knew Mistina knew Ruby as well. With a heart full of compassion, Mistina was always advocating for stray and abandoned animals, often opening her home and her heart to those in need.

Giving back to her community brought Mistina great joy. She was actively involved with the Aguilar Historical Society and Museum, volunteered with Food for Seniors, Friends of Aguilar, the local thrift store, and could often be found supporting community events and lending a helping hand whenever it was needed. Her kindness, generosity, and willingness to serve touched the lives of many.

Mistina was preceded in death by her father, Joe Gonzales; her sister, Dawn Sarvari; and her grandparents, William and Louise Ehlers.

She is lovingly remembered by her mother, Loretta Knutson; her niece, Shawna (Adam) Horton; her aunts, Anne Moynahan and Mo (Kristi) Ehlers; her uncles, Paul (Sally) Ehlers and Phil Ehlers; her great-nephews; Bradley and Ryan Applegate, Taytem Allbaugh and Beckem Horton; along with many cousins, extended family members, dear friends, and countless lives that she touched throughout the years.

Mistina’s generous spirit, gentle heart, and unwavering love for both people and animals will be remembered always. While her passing leaves an immeasurable void, the compassion she shared, the friendships she nurtured, and the countless acts of kindness she extended will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
