Marcella Orlinda Guara 82, a devout and faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026. Marcella was born on November 28th, 1943, in Ocate, New Mexico, to Jose L. and Cordelia Bernal.
On August 6th, 1960 she married Ted E. Guara in Raton, New Mexico. Together they shared 65 beautiful years of marriage and 4 beautiful children, Larry Guara, Teddy Guara, Theresa Guara, and Angela Guara. They have numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Marcella devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family and took immense pride in watching her children graduate from Raton High School and her grandchildren graduate and prosper in life.
Marcella’s Catholic faith and the word of our living God guided her life. She instilled this value of our Lord in her children and grandchildren. One of the most cherished and faith fulfilling experiences was a Pilgrimage to Lubbock, Texas and reading the most Holy Bible daily.
Those who knew Marcella well will remember her radiant and beautiful smile and the genuine love and warmth she brought to everyone. She possessed a quiet strength and courage, a generous and loving heart, and an unwavering love for her family and friends. Her kindness, faith, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose L. and Cordelia Bernal. Her brothers, Teddy and Paul Bernal, her sisters, Lucille Bernal, Juanita Tafoya, Rebecca Salazar, and Helen Garcia. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Marcella is survived by her loving husband, Ted Guara and her loving children, Larry Guara, Teddy Guara and wife Martina, Theresa Guara, David, and Angela Guara and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren.
The viewing for Marcella will be at Alderette Pomeroy Funeral Home on Thursday, June 11th, from 2-4pm.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Friday, June 12th at 11:00am at St Joseph’s/St. Patrick’s Catholic Church recited by the Carmelitas, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am, recited by Father Bill Woytavich as the celebrant. Rite of Committal and internment will follow at Fairmont Cemetery.
