In Loving Memory of Nora Pauline Garcia

Nora Pauline Garcia passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, at the age of 78, at home surrounded by her family.Nora was born to Manuel and Ida Mascareñas on July 13, 1947, in Koehler, New Mexico.

Her father was a coal miner, and when the local mines closed, the family moved to Montana for several years. They later returned to Raton, where Nora spent the rest of her life. She graduated from Raton High School in 1966 and retired from MCMC in 2012, where she served as secretary to the director of nursing. Nora loved quilting and enjoyed collecting dolls and angels.

Nora was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Ida Mascareñas; her infant daughter, Gina Renia Sisneros; her son, Jason Gene Sisneros; Mike “Taco” Garcia; her sister, Carroll Lemons; her brother, Joey Mascareñas; and many other loved ones who went before her.

She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Sisneros, and her children, Lance and Alysa Alford, Jayce Sisneros-Reno (Cheyenne and Ezekiel), and Jadin Lunn (Aaliyah), as well as her grandchildren, Selene, Gage, Luna, and TomiLie Alford. She is also survived by her son, Bradley Sisneros, and his wife, Carmen, and their sons, Max and Christian Gonzales, all of Raton; her son, Michael Amparan, and his wife, Mindy, and his children, Lacey, Dalley, Luke, Rylan, and Destry Amparan of Grand Junction, Colorado; and her daughter, Sheyenne Aday, and her husband, Steven, and their children, Sonny and Stormie, of Colorado City. Sonny was her world and favorite person, and they shared a bond like no other. Nora is also survived by her brother, Eddie Mascareñas of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her sister, Gwen Marchetti of Raton, New Mexico; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.

The family would like to recognize Gloria Sanchez for the wonderful care she provided to Nora. They also extend heartfelt thanks to the hospice team, Rebecca Ramirez and Catlyn Romero, for their compassionate and invaluable support.

Funeral Service for Nora Garcia will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Light House Church at 10:00 am with EJ Johnson officiating.  Interment to follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
