Darrel Baker, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Mountain Time on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the First Baptist Church in Clayton with Rev. Billy Rammage, officiating. The family will have a meal after the service at the church. Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 PM Central Time at the Willowbar Cemetery in Keyes, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Darrel Baker was born on April 9, 1943, in Springer, New Mexico to Aubrey Townsend Baker and Iva Myrtle (Huls) Baker. He grew up south of Farley, New Mexico on the Van Dyke place. While in school, Darrel was involved in 4H, he ran track and played basketball. Ranching was his passion and he worked on ranches in New Mexico, Texas, Colorado and Oklahoma. Darrel also worked for the Union County Road Department for 34 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey Baker on January 12, 1995, his mother, Iva Baker on April 13, 1998, by two sisters, Stella Gerner and Audrey Martin and by three grandchildren, Savannah Rose Baker, Suzanna Marie Baker and Jared Paul Baker.

SURVIVORS:

1 DAUGHTER: Charee Roberts and her husband Dan of Gladstone, New Mexico.

2 SONS: Cleo Baker of Jemez Springs, New Mexico and Colby Baker and his wife Julie of Cimarron, Kansas.

15 GRANDCHILDREN: Stephen Baker (Andrea), Nathan Baker, Karissa Baker, Kaitlyn Baker, Luke Baker, Kelcey Throckmorton (Nick), Tyler Johnson, Blaine Baker, Kynlee Baker, Thomas Quinones (Monica), Zatthias Bennett (Jadin), Zander Bennett (Teagan), Tobias Bennett, Xahndria Bennett and Shay Bennett.

4 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Isaiah Baker, Ezmae Bennett, Brixleigh Bennett and Zariah Bennett.

2 SISTERS: Sharon Jones of Frankston, Texas and Terry Petr of Spearman, Texas.

2 BROTHERS: Buford Baker of Spearman, Texas and Donnie Baker of Ogallala, Nebraska.

And numerous nieces and nephews.

MEMORIALS: The family asks that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimers foundation or to the First Baptist Church in Clayton.
