Mary Ann Mannes, age 80, passed away on May 24, 2026, in Clayton, New Mexico.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.
Mary Ann (Erickson) Mannes was born on May 21, 1946, in Hindsdale, Illinois to Elmer Erickson, Sr. and Josephine (Matchnick) Erickson. She grew up in the Chicago area where she graduated from Hindsdale High School. Mary Ann married Kenneth Harold Mannes on November 30, 1968, in Clarendon Hills, Illinois and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2017. They moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico when they were in their 30’s where they lived for about twenty years before moving to Clayton. Mary Ann worked as a Beautician for several years and provided childcare from her home for most of her life, caring for numerous children both in Albuquerque and in Clayton. She cared for more than one generation of some family’s children. All of the children loved her. Mary Ann and Kenneth raised two children, Morgan Miller and Jack Mannes. Mary Ann worked for the museum in Clayton for a few years and she was very involved in the Trinity Fellowship Church in Clayton. She loved to cook and bake and was famous for her Swedish coffee cakes and pounds cakes. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Ann was preceded in death by a brother Robert Erickson.
