Lady Tigers Take Double Header While Tigers Drop One to Santa Rosa

It was a windy cool day in Raton that turned cold for the Santa Rosa Lady Lions as they took on the District 6 first place Raton Lady Tigers at Jim Wade Field in Raton Friday afternoon April 17, 2026.

The Lady Lions came into the game with a 4-0 district record and an 8-7 overall record while the Lady Tigers have a 4-0 district record and a 11-3 overall record and that’s after 14 straight games on the road before they had a single home game in Raton.

Game one started off with Raton holding the Lady Lions scoreless and sending two runs around the horn followed by another seven runs in the second inning for a 9-2 lead over Santa Rosa. Another scoreless inning for Santa Rosa followed by two runs for Raton. Again in the fourth inning the Lady Tigers showed their batting skills and pushed another seven runs over home plate. A scoreless fifth inning for Santa Rosa ended the game with a Raton win 18-4.

In game two it was all Raton as the Lady Tigers posted an 11 run first inning after holding Santa Rosa scoreless in both the first and second innings. Raton’s Paige Lemons helped with a 2-run homer in the second inning while the Lady Tigers added another six runs to the score board for a 17-0 win and an undefeated 6-0 district record for Raton.

Down the street Raton baseball at a district record of 3-2 took on the Santa Rosa Lions with a district record of 5-0. The Tigers only managed a two run second inning going scoreless as Santa Rosa scored in three of the five innings for the district win.
