It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anita E. Boyer, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. Anita was welcomed into the presence of her beloved Heavenly Father on May 24, 2026, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. She was 82 years old.

Anita was born on September 10, 1943, in Trinidad, Colorado. She was the youngest of four children born to Ophelia Martinez and Valentine Martinez. She grew up in Trinidad’s Carbon Street neighborhood and attended Trinidad Catholic School for elementary and middle school before transferring to Trinidad High School, where she graduated in 1961.

In 1963, Anita met the late Robert F. Larsen Sr. They were married in 1964 and were blessed with six children: Donald, Lester, William, Duane, Doreen, and Gail. Anita and Robert shared 26 years of marriage until his passing in 1990. She was a devoted and wonderful mother who dedicated her life to her family.

Anita began her working career in 1971 with the Head Start Program as a cook. She later joined Mount San Rafael Hospital as an Emergency Room administrative clerk while also working for the Department of Social Services as a caseworker supporting various community programs.

A remarkable woman in every sense of the word, Anita pursued her dream career in law enforcement in 1980. She began as a meter maid and part-time communications dispatcher for the City of Trinidad Police Department. She later became a full-time communications dispatcher and 911 Coordinator. During her distinguished career, she earned numerous certifications and awards, including NCIC, CCIC, 911, and Head Dispatcher certifications. She also served as a reserve officer for the department. Anita retired in 2005 after 25 years of dedicated service.

Retirement suited her for a time, but Anita’s strong work ethic soon led her back into the workforce. She worked with the COG Program as a cook for preschool children and later joined H&R Block as a receptionist, where she enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and meeting new people.

In 1991, Anita met the love of her life, Jonathan Boyer. They were married on May 22, 1993, and shared a life full of adventure and companionship. They often traveled spontaneously, packing a suitcase and going wherever life took them. One of their favorite destinations was the Santuario, where they enjoyed visiting the casino, dining out, and spending time together. On May 22, 2026, they celebrated 33 years of marriage.

Anita was a nurturing spirit whose unwavering love and support will continue to live on in the hearts of her family. She took great pride in her home and yard, always keeping things clean, beautiful, and filled with flowers. Her warm personality, generosity, and willingness to help others touched many lives. She was a mother to every child who entered her home.
