North Underpass in Raton Set to Close 5/11/26 for 2 Weeks

Good morning,

Here are the most recent updates for these project. Please note the full closure starting next Monday (5/11) for the North Underpass! 

North Underpass Project:

• Full closure of the underpass will start on Monday Morning, May 11th! 
• The full closure is expected to last 2 full weeks (14 days) if everything goes according to plan. During the closure, the contractor will be replacing damaged road sections, installing new concrete medians, and painting the underside of the bridge.
• Construction will continue after the full closure, and will include painting the remaining parts of the bridges, installing traffic signs, and eventually new pavement striping.

 

Railroad Ave. Bridge Project:

• A detour is currently active for the north bridge replacement.
• Next week, work will continue on the north bridge, including the assembly and backfill of the new metal structure.
• The south, or first, bridge will be installed after the north bridge is traffic-ready. This bridge is still open for normal use.
• Work will continue on both crossings even after the new structures are in place and the detours removed. This will include installation of guardrails, modifications to the drainage channels, placement of riprap, and some other street improvements.
