Colfax County Deputies were called to the scene of a two vehicle accident on I-25 a couple of miles north of the TA Truck Stop about 1:00 am Friday morning October 3, 2025.
According to the semi driver his trailer drifted toward the guardrail and struck the guardrail causing the driver to loose control. The rear axle of the trailer became dislodged from the trailer and came to rest in the northbound roadway. Another northbound vehicle hit the axle the vehicle airbags deployed. the driver of the second vehicle was transported to MCMC for treatment of minor injuries and released later that day. The semi driver was cited for failure to maintain a lane.
The accident involving a semi truck and a passenger vehicle closed the northbound lanes of I-25 for a few hours while the accident was investigated. Deputies reopened one lane of the interstate and advised caution as the clean up continued which took over 18 hours for the tow company to do the clean up.
Colfax Sheriff Deputy noted emergency personnel were on the scene quickly to secure the scene and help with traffic. There was no report on injuries or driver information available at this time.
