Maxwell Municipal Schools to Break Ground on New K–12 School
Maxwell, NM — The Maxwell Municipal Schools Board of Education will host a
groundbreaking ceremony for the new combined school, a state-of-the-art K–12 campus
designed to serve students and families for generations to come. The ceremony will take place on
Thursday, March 12th at 10:30am at the future school site located at 6th and Kiowa.
The new campus represents a significant investment in the community and reflects the district’s
commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student well-being. The facility will feature
modern classrooms, career and technical education labs, outdoor learning spaces and athletic
facilities, and enhanced safety and security systems. The new campus will provide a dynamic
learning environment where students from kindergarten through 12th grade can thrive all under
one roof.
The project was made possible through the support of voters, community stakeholders, and state
partners who recognized the need for updated facilities to accommodate growth and evolving
educational programming.
Board of Education President Mary Lou Kern added, “We are grateful to our community for
their trust and investment. This school will stand as a symbol of opportunity and progress for our
students.”
The groundbreaking ceremony will include remarks from district leaders, board members,
community partners, and invited dignitaries, followed by the official turning of the soil and photo
opportunities.
Construction is expected to be completed by August 2027, with the school opening to students in
the 2027-2028 school year.
Community members, partners, and media representatives are invited to attend.
