Colfax County Deputy was called to a wedding event off New Mexico Highway 434 and Osha Road, south of Angel Fire, where an altercation had taken place that later resulted in another altercation where gunshots were reported at about 2:20 a.m. on Saturday September 20, 2025.
When Deputy Matthew Dean arrived on the scene the suspects had already fled the area, fortunately no one was struck by the gunfire. According to the arrest warrant an altercation had occurred after which Alonzo DeLeon and Brandee Heald left the scene to return later when another altercation occurred and gunshots were fired. According to witnesses the shots came from the driver’s side of the vehicle driven by DeLeon. During evidence collection a total of nine shell casings were recovered.
With help from multiple agencies including New Mexico State Police and Valencia County Sheriff’s office Alonzo DeLeon (44) who is a convicted felon and Brandee Heald (28) were located in Los Lunas, New Mexico where they were detained.
Further investigation into the incident resulted in arrest warrants for the two individuals being issued. Both were arrested in Valencia County and have been transported back to Colfax County where they had their first appearance. Heald has been released from VMDC. DeLeon also had his first appearance in Colfax County and the US Marshals placed a detainer on him and transported him to Albuquerque.
with DeLeon being charged with multiple felony charges.
