It rained once again in Raton, this time causing flooding in north Raton where Canyon Drive meets North Second Street stranding a car in the roadway.
The rain came down hard and fast with Ambient weather stations around town reporting from .96 in north Raton to 1.63 out in Bartlett Mesa Subdivision. In downtown Raton the rain gauge showed 1.53 in the rain tube. The KRTN State Street Studios received 1.33″.
There were reports of power outages in south Raton due to lightning hitting a power pole.
This unlucky motorist found out just how deep the water was on north Second Street Friday evening as it got stranded in the standing water.The water was too deep for this vehicle at the end of Second Street and Canyon Drive Friday evening after Raton received over an inch of rain.Raton Creek was running bank to bank with drainage coming in at Terril and Sugarite Friday evening.Water filled the drainage ditch by the old K-Mart building as several areas in south Raton lost electricity after lightning hit a power pole.Water entered the drainage ditch at the old K-Mart from under south Second Street Friday evening.
