Raton Fire and Emergency service along with Colfax Rapid Response responded to a grease fire at 328 North Fourth Street Wednesday afternoon at about 4:22 p.m. upon arrival flames were visible.
The resident of the home managed to keep the flames at bay until fire fighters arrived. The residence was close to the main station so firemen arrived at the scene very quickly. However the fire began to spread inside the home and created a large amount of smoke. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames but spent several minutes using fans to evacuate the smoke. The resident of the home did escape without injuries but his supper didn’t fair as well.
