Rescission of Fire Ban â Effective Immediately
After careful evaluation of current weather conditions, recent precipitation, and improvements in fire fuel moisture levels, the Colfax County Fire Marshal, in consultation with local fire chiefs and relevant agencies, hereby rescinds the burn ban previously enacted under Colfax County Ordinance No. 2006-1.
Effective Immediately:
The fire ban issued due to high fire risk and extreme fire behavior forecasts is lifted.
Key Changes:
-
Burn permits may now be issued by local fire districts in accordance with applicable regulations.
-
Outdoor burning, including the use of charcoal briquettes, fireplaces, chimineas, and campfires, is now permitted where allowed by local ordinances.
-
Outdoor smoking restrictions are lifted; however, all residents are encouraged to remain cautious.
-
Chainsaw use and other spark-producing equipment may resume normal operations, but the use of spark arrestors remains recommended.
Important Note:
This rescission does not apply to or interfere with the Colfax County fireworks ban established under Resolution No. 2025-046 by the Colfax County Commission. The fireworks ban remains in full effect until officially rescinded or amended by the Commission.
Continue to Practice Fire Safety:
-
Monitor local weather and fire danger reports.
-
Never leave any fire unattended and ensure all fires are fully extinguished.
-
Maintain defensible space around your home and outbuildings.
-
Follow all permit requirements and local fire district regulations.
For questions, burn permits, or to schedule a fire safety inspection, please contact your local fire district office.
Ongoing Safety Measures:
We will continue to monitor weather and fire conditions closely. Should fire danger increase again, appropriate restrictions may be reinstated. Your continued awareness and cooperation are vital to community safety.
Stay safe and have a happy 4th of July.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and commitment to community safety.
