In Loving Memory of Willa Mae Gartside

Willa Mae Gartside

February 9, 1923 – October 6, 2024

Willa Gartside was born in Trinidad, Colorado to George and Zella Lott, and was a lifelong resident of Trinidad, Colorado.  She graduated from Trinidad High School in 1941 along with 181 students.  After high school, she began working at Jamieson’s Department Store.  In 1943, she began working at the Trinidad National Bank and was there for five years.  She then went to work for Hausman Wholesale and stayed for the next sixteen years.  Willa married Joseph Gartside on May 23, 1947.  She began working at the First National Bank on August 14, 1978, and was there for over 30 years.  She was known for having outstanding relationships with their customers and a swiftness that even her younger peers would have trouble keeping up with.

Willa is preceded by her parents George and Zella Lott, grandparents Mattie Logan Shy and James Willson, and her husband Joseph Gartside.

Willa is survived by her daughter Sherri Lee. Nieces and nephews: Terri McHassey, Delene Von Newcomb, Clarence Newcomb III.

Pallbearers: Aaron Williamson, Zeb Williamson, Carl Skalko, David Barrack, Jude Sears, and Ed Eiesmann.

A service will be held Wednesday, October 16, at 2 pm, and the family has entrusted Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home with the arrangements
