Capulin Volcano to Host Summer Market
July 19, 2015
Capulin, NM– Capulin Volcano National Monument will be hosting its third annual Summer Market on Sunday, July 19, and August 9 from 10 am to 3 pm. Area artisans will be selling locally harvested and artisanal food items such as honey, handmade soaps, baked goods, fresh produce, jams, herbs, and crafts. Local musicians and entertainers will also be present to demonstrate their talents. Past performers have included Red Dirt artists, Powwow dancers, and cowboy poets. Lunch can be purchased from Mr. C’s BBQ from Raton, NM.
Created to celebrate regional culture, offer economic opportunities for artisans, and reconnect residents with the natural treasure that marks the landscape in their own backyards, the Summer Market is a partnership program of Tucson-based Western National Parks Association (WNPA) and the National Park Service (NPS).
Capulin Volcano National Monument will be open on Market days for regular hours of operation 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and National Park Service staff will offer Junior Ranger programs twice daily.
