Colfax County Manager Gore Placed on Paid Administrative Leave Pending Investigation

The Colfax County Commission called an Emergency Meeting for Thursday, Jan. 16, and after 45 minutes of Closed Executive Session, came back into Open Session and County Chairman Todd Tatum introduced a motion that would place Colfax County Manager Monte Gore on immediate paid leave, pending the out-come of an investigation and resolution of the personnel matter discussed in closed session.  The motion passed unanimously with both Commissioners Mary Lou Kern and Si Trujillo voting in favor of the motion to suspend Gore.

The meeting was called “due to unforseen circumstances that, if not addressed immediately by the public body, will likely result in injury or damage to persons or property or substantial financial loss to Colfax County.”

The motion also included specific language that Gore was not to be present on any County property unless conducting business as a resident of the county, it also included a ban on contacting any county employee or contractor or the county attorney, and also prohibited Gore from using County email or any other IT asset owned by the County and violation of any of the provisions would result in forfeiture of his contract.

Commissioner Si Trujillo was named Acting County Manager until a special meeting can be held to appoint one.
