Raton City Commission met Tuesday evening December 19, for a special meeting in the commission chambers to act on a couple of liquor license changes and approve the purchase of a skid loader for the street department.
Commissioners heard about the transfer of ownership of a dispenser liquor license from Roberta Schwede to Maverik Inc. The location of the new store is on South Second and I-25 on the south end of Raton south of the NMDOT yard.
Commissioners heard a request from K-Bobs who are seeking a Restaurant A Liquor License. This is also a change in ownership. Commissioners approved the request.
Commissioners then heard a proposal from Alpha Southwest Inc. for the aquatic center pump rebuild estimate. The work will be covered utilizing the state price agreement. The cost for pumps and parts is about $65,091 with the total cost on the bid at $97,446.76 which covers mileage and workers expenses. Segotta noted this estimate is about $30,000 less than the first quote.
Jason Phillips informed the commissioners about a skid steer loader that the street department wants to purchase. The purchase will be covered under a capital outlay grant. Wagner Cat was the low bid of the three that the city received in the amount of $57,158.00.
City Treasurer Michael Anne Antonucci went over FY24 Budget Adjustment #6 which covers line-item transfers for loan payments and aquatic center GRT. The sanitation transfers are for the new trash truck and to take care of the loan for the truck. The Aquatic Center GRT transfer is to help cover the pump repairs. (link to FY24 Budget Adjustment #6)
Commissioners finished out the meeting with a zoning request from Roger Sanchez to divide the property at 807 East 5th and 201 Cedar Street with a dividing line running north and south. The purpose of the division is to allow the property to be sold. The request was approved by the planning and zoning commission with no opposition from the public.
There will be no regular commission meeting on December 26 as it is the Christmas Holiday with the next regular meeting being on January 9th at 6:00 p.m.
