THERE IS CURRENTLY NO RATON ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER.
This is not our employee – it’s the CITY’S, and ENFORCEMENT (picking up stray animals, picking up abandoned animals, barking animals, chained animals, etc) is an enforcement issue.
We would recommend calling the Raton Police Department for assistance in these matters, but they will likely tell you there is no animal control officer.
We are hoping for a VERY quick resolution to this problem.

Please share with people you may know in the Hwy 72/Allen’s Alley area:
Early this morning, a juvenile mountain lion entered a residential property and killed a full-sized adult Ram goat. This was a large animal. Many families in this area have domestic animals as well as livestock, so we would like everyone to be vigilant with their pets/livestock. This is the second sighting of a mountain lion (of which we are aware) in the last few weeks. We always want to alert folks to dangers we know regarding animal welfare!
Even when there was ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER They will sometimes pick up a dead Cat but refuse to take in Kittens and Small Cat’s.
