Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association (NAAWA) is Adjusting their Services and Operations

Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association is  asking for donations.

The well-being of our volunteers, staff, community, and pets are top priorities of Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association. In light of the concerns regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, NAAWA is altering our services and operations. In adapting adjustments to our operations, NAAWA hopes to help protect our community from the progress of COVID-19 and also take measures to keep our staff healthy, so that our staff can continue to provide care to shelter pets who have no where else to turn to. These adjustments are designed to help minimize foot traffic and potential virus exposure at our campus as well as throughout the community.

At this time, NAAWA will remain open for adoptions, as well as for lost & found services Monday – Friday 11am to 2pm; we will be closed Sundays & Saturdays. We will continue to help pets in our care find homes through adoption, continue to help lost and found pets, and continue to help pets in dire medical need. NAAWA will continue to regularly disinfect public space areas and surfaces throughout our campus.

We urge you to keep your pets in your homes. If you have a pet that you need to surrender, we ask that you keep the pet in your home as long as possible. All owner surrender services are only provided by appointment by calling 719-680-2385, high emergency circumstances will be given top priority. Please remember that at this time the CDC has not received any reports of pets or other animals infected with COVID-19. As a precautionary measure, we urge you to keep your pets from possibly coming into contact with infected persons. We also urge you to ensure your pet has current owner information on their ID tag and microchip, so that your pet can be returned to you as quickly as possible if your pet goes missing. Pets are wonderful companions to have at your home during this time; they also love the extra time they get to spend with you.

If you find a stray cat or dog after-hours, please contact the Trinidad Police Department at 719-846-4441. Our local police department can access our facility after-hours if a pet needs to come into shelter.

If you have an animal medical emergency, please contact one of our local veterinarian offices: Trinidad Animal Clinic 719-846-3212 or Fisher’s Peak Vet Clinic 719-846-3211.

If you need a City of Trinidad Pet License, Town of Aguilar Pet License, or need to purchase a Pre-Paid Rabies Voucher, you may call our shelter at 719-680-2385 to pay by phone and we will mail your order to you. For pet licenses, you will need to email or fax us proof of your pet’s current rabies certificate from a licensed veterinarian.

To protect the community and halt the spread of COVID-19, we are suspending the following services:
-public vaccine & microchip clinics
-community TNR programs
-in-person educational programs
-in-person events & fundraisers
-volunteer & useful public service programs
-out of state transfer-in programs

We will continue our pet food pantry program through Fisher’s Peak Soup Kitchen as long our supplies allow for.

Our Noah’s Ark Thrift Store will be closed to the public for shopping. However, our thrift store will continue to collect donations at the back door only from 10am to 4pm, Monday through Friday (back door access is found through the Elm St. parking lot).

Our work does not stop fully in light of COVID-19, we will continue to remain dedicated to helping homeless pets, as we are their only hope. We are seeing a slight decrease in adoptions, but with pets still entering our facility every day, we have to continue finding pets homes or we won’t be able to safely manage our animal population. If you are in a position to add a new new family member to your household, please consider adopting or joining our foster care program.

If you can’t adopt or foster, but still want to help out, your generous donation is more important than ever before. With our thrift store being closed due to the pandemic, we will need every dollar to continue caring for our homeless pets during this crisis. Donations can be made online through our Facebook page’s donate button or through the donate button on our website at www.noahsarktrinidad.org. Snail mail donations also work – we are accepting check and money order donations through the mail at Noah’s Ark, PO Box 478, Trinidad, CO 81082.

If you shop online through Smile.Amazon, please select Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association as your charity of choice and Amazon will make a contribution to our nonprofit.

If you would like to purchase supplies for our shelter to use, we can use the following high demand items: paper towels, pig ear chew treats, nitrile gloves, disinfecting bleach, cat litter, KMR kitten formula, Esbilac puppy formula, fuzzy catnip mice and postage stamps (first-class and/or postcard). Supplies can be sent/delivered to Noah’s Ark at 224 N. Chestnut St, Trinidad, CO 81082..

NAAWA is monitoring the situation closely and is following the guidance from top health and animal sheltering organizations. We greatly appreciate all you do in helping us to fulfill our mission – we couldn’t do without you – please take care of yourself, your pets, and do your part to minimize the COVID-19 virus.
