Mr. Monte J. Wooden age 66 passed away on January 28, 2014 at his home in Des Moines, New Mexico. He was born on May 24, 1947 in Des Moines, NM to Sidney H. and Clella Mae Wooden.
Monte served in and retired from the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict and throughout his service in the U.S. Army her received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Army Commendation Medal, and the Marksman Medal achieved with the M-16 Riffle.
Monte had numerous lifelong friends. He enjoyed going to the Des Moines Senior Citizens Center weekly for lunch and making trips to Raton. He was always ready to help others when help was needed. Monte was a very kind and caring man and could make anyone smile.
Monte will always be remembered and forever missed by those whose hearts had been filled just by knowing him and the great man that he was.
Monte was preceded in death by his parents and survived by numerous friends.
A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 5, 2014 at 1pm in the Des Moines First Baptist Church with Eric Armstrong officiating. Burial to follow at the Des Moines cemetery.
