Milky Way above Capulin Volcano

Capulin Volcano has one of the best, and well preserved night skies in the nation and is recognized by the International Dark Sky Association as a Gold Tier Dark Sky Park.

Bring your friends and family to watch the sunset at Capulin and experience the transition from day to night. Once the sun has set, laser wielding Park Rangers will take you on a tour of the night sky using high powered telescopes to observe the crescent moon, planets, distant stars, and deep sky secrets.

This event is completely free and open to the public. We only ask that you RSVP for the event via Facebook message, email, or give us a call at (575) 278-2201. Please bring snacks, warm clothing, a chair, and red flashlights or headlamps if you have one.

This event is weather permitting. In the event of a cloudy sky or inclement weather, we will attempt to reschedule at a later date.
