To Kill A Mockingbird is a coming of age story set in the economically depressed, deeply segregated
south. When an African-American man is accused of raping a white woman, Atticus Finch is asked to
defend him. In the racially divided setting of Maycomb, Alabama, Atticus and his children, Jem and Scout,
face the ugly truth of how racism can turn friends and neighbors against each other. As Jem and Scout
witness the unfolding drama, they are faced with the stark truth that justice is not always blind.​
