The Tiger, the Vampire, and the Princess

A pooch dressed up as a “Raton Tiger” girl has won first place and a $100 gift card for Tractor Supply in the Halloween Pet Costume contest sponsored by the Rotary Club of Raton and Tractor Supply.
Mocha Chocolate’, who lives with Raton resident Juanita Gallegos, came in first in the contest last Saturday by competing in a tiger suit with a plaid dress on top.
“All the pet costumes were great and the judges had a hard time picking winners,” said Jari Thymian, Rotary president. “Pets are an important part of the Raton community.”
Second place went to black cat Alasdair, who came as a vampire with a red satin cloak. Alasdair and her human Shelley Santos won a $75 gift card for Tractor Supply.
Pinker, a chihuahua who lives with Vivian Baker of Raton, took third place for her gauzy pink princess costume and won a $50 gift card for Tractor Supply.
Free pumpkins, complements of Raton Rotary, were given to the first 25 pet owners that arrived.
Saturday’s pet event was part of a 3-way partnership between Raton Humane Society, Tractor Supply and Raton Rotary.
