Raton High School hosted the first ever Power Lifting competition for RHS Power Lifting Athletes Monday February 26, 2024 in Tiger Gym.
Five Schools were supposed to compete but two pulled out leaving only three teams. Cimarron, Clayton and Raton teams competed Monday with Clayton being the team to beat. Clayton has an established team while Cimarron and Raton are competing for the very first time this year.
The power lifting program is on a wait and see status in part depending on the number of students to participate and how well it is received by the school.
Power Lifting competitions consist of bench press and deadlifting categories.
