The last regular games of the season came to a close with a couple of surprising wins for Raton as both the JV and C-Team marked the win column while the varsity kept the game close until the last half of the third where Santa Fe Prep pulled away for the win.

The C-Team game was a close one in the first half going into the second half but with strong aggressive play the boys gathered some steam and began to pull away. It was like the C-Team was a totally different team from their Tuesday game with Robertson where baskets were far and few between. Saturday afternoon saw the boys making their shots and getting the rebounds for points. As the game came to a close the boys took their first win of the season with a 13 point victory.

The JV boys held the Griffins scoreless in the first quarter as their strong defense stole the ball and made the shots to pull ahead with a 20-6 lead at halftime. The Tigers continued their aggressive play pulling out ahead by 40-16 after three quarters. The final buzzer saw Raton take the win by 19 with a 49-30 win.

The varsity boys came out strong taking the early lead only to falter and start missing shots. The Griffins were a tough opponent under the goal as Raton battled it out on the rebounds. It was the first quarter that set Raton behind but they would battle back finding the basket for badly needed points and were only down by five going into the locker room at half.  Raton again struggled to hit the basket in the second half taking several of their shots from 3-point territory and missing. Gong inside wasn’t a lot better as the Griffins height created a barrier that was hard to penetrate for the score. The Griffins slowly inked out an expanding lead to finish off the game by 15, 70-55.
