Garrick Lee Lopez

Garrick Lee Lopez passed away on November 17, 2023. Garrick was born on December 26, 1973, in Raton, N.M. Garrick grew up on a small farm west of Maxwell. He attended Maxwell Municipal Schools and graduated from Maxwell High School in May of 1992.
After graduation, Garrick moved to Las Cruces, N.M. where he attended college for a short time before he became a welder at Southwest Tank and Steel. Garrick loved the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially camping. Garrick enjoyed his time in Las Cruces, but he truly loved being back home in Maxwell. Garrick became a father in 2004 when he welcomed his first daughter, Alyssa Rayne, and then welcomed his second daughter Alandra Taryn in 2005. They were the loves of his life, as he fondly nicknamed them “Lissy” and “Landry”. Garrick worked for Pioneer Natural Resources for many years, where he made many friends. Garrick continued to work in the surrounding areas for different construction companies.
Garrick is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Patricia Lopez, maternal grandparents, Floyd and Esther Espinoza, paternal grandparents, Joe and Margaret Lopez, his Uncle Charles and Aunt Gloria and Uncle Roger.
Garrick is survived by his beautiful daughters Alyssa Rayne Lopez and Alandra Taryn Lopez of Leigh High Acres, Fl., his sister Lisa Lopez (Bobby) of Maxwell, NM, Uncle Larry and Aunt Zita Lopez of Springer, NM, Uncle Dan and Aunt Barbara Espinoza of Grand Junction, CO., Aunt P. res of T or C., NM, Aunt Fran Jones of Las Cruces, NM, Aunt Margaret and Uncle Vern Query of Maxwell, NM., Uncle Buck Chavez of Wagon Wheel, NM, and Uncle Steve Jones of Las Cruces, NM. All of his cousins who he truly loved, Matt (Elisa)Chavez, Adam (Melissa)Chavez, Mark Query, Mitchell Query, Boe Lopez, Brian (Blair) Lopez, Charlie ( Maggie)Espinoza, Andrew ( Kerrie) Jones, Amanda (Loren)Frost, Marcia ( Cory)Trujillo, Dana Espinoza, and Brandon Espinoza, and his Great Aunt Pauline Martinez of Maxwell, NM. Numerous cousins and friends also survive.
Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will be held Monday, December 18th at 9:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer, NM recited by Connie Chavez. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:00 A.M. with Father Benoit Trieu Van Vu as the celebrant. The Rite of Christian Burial will be at the Maxwell Cemetery. The family would like everyone in attendance to attend Garrick’s dinner after burial back at the Parish Hall in Springer, NM. Pallbearers are Matt Chavez, Adam Chavez, Andrew Jones, Brian Lopez, Mark Query, and Brandon Espinoza. Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Lopez, Dan Espinoza, Boe Lopez, Mitchell Query, and Charlie Espinoza.
